Subject: PAMPAS, Huancavelica.
Dear fellow citizens: today we are ending a week of intense work medico-dental and surgical charitable benefit of the population of the city of Pampas, the 2nd in importance of Huancavelica. Located at 3200 m above the level of the sea, in an area more warm and accessible to agriculture and trade, especially with Huancayo and in that way with Lima; It is two to three hours of the departmental hospital of Huancavelica, which makes need local services for those who do not can be transported, in short the most poor. The hospital is an enlarged health post of very good size and recent modern construction, the best of its kind I've seen in Peru. Obviously not meet even all the requirements needed by the population. The staff is very efficient and humane. They cover an area with approximately 120 thousand inhabitants of the region or province of Tayacaja. I am very happy to have come to work for the first time to this area, with a professional team of pequenho, exploratory to enable your own potential future campaigns conducting medical major. We thank the donations of Direct Relief International, and that institution especially Sr Daniel Snith who supports infatigablemtente Peru and us - California PAMS Chapter - for two decades: 50 pounds of antibiotics of first quality and great need in these areas of cold. Also the logistic support of Cia de Minas Buenaventura who for 8 consecutive years gives us their institutional capacity in aid programmes to the Dept. of Huancavelica, where carried out sincere and efficient programmes of social care to the needs of lso Huancavelicanos without asking anything in return or impose conditions of any kind. And the crazy direction of health, (DIRESA), and all PAMPAS Hospital staff for their friendly and total cooperation. The statistics are in preparation and will be published when they are ready, but have done, each of the six team members, interventions ever made in this town, teaching techniques and procedures learned through long and successful professional experiences, enriching thus the opportunity that the inhabitants of the area to benefit from this. Cordial and sincere, with best wishes from you for all and especially for the brothers of the Senhor de los Milagros for whom this is the most important week of 2013. Dr. Ralph Kuon A heart warming story from Dr. Steve Mora How Many People Does It Take To Give A Young Peruvian Boy A New Leg?
Peruvian American Dental Association (PDAD) was created with the stimulus and support of California Chapter of PAMS. We are proud of them! See the beautiful things that they do. Their approach is very similar to our mission. Dear Friends,
Since 2010, I have launched, created, and managed the website for Dr. Ralph Kuon. As we approach this year medical mission to Huancavelica in 2013, it will be the website's 3rd birthday. Cheers! A brief history in the creation of the website: The website was originally created with the intention as a blog to share experience of the 2010 student volunteers. However, over the years it has grown to encompass past, present, and future volunteers. This website has now become a home to many people who became involved with our causes and goals (Provide, Donate, Support) either by volunteering their time or through monetary gifts. I hope this mission has changed you as it has changed me as an individual. Best, Nhan-Ai Nguyen
My friends,
I am sharing with you another example of PAMS work. It is similar to what Pablo Uceda does as well. We can not yet do this in Huancavelica, but we can refer patients like these to our Efrain Montesinos Cardiovascular Institute in Lima. It is created, updated and supported by all of us in PAMS. Would you consider becoming a member too? Dr. Ralph Kuon The temperature is falling in the Andes Highlands like Huancavelica and Arequipa. This forecast states that the cold may be equivalent of 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Please take a note and pack accordingly what you will wear in our trip to Peru. Day light temps hover around 15-15 degrees. It is winter in the southern hemisphere. Remember to pack warm underwear and layered clothing. Dr. Ralph Kuon I invite you to look at this teaser ( sample ) of a frequent activity PAMS missions do in Peru, repair faces and other wounds that can not be taken care locally where we go, We do this daily, among other changing life experiences. In this case this is a short video of what will be a full documentary.
The surgeons and film makers participated in a previous Ayacucho Mission. The group will come this year to Huancavelica Mission. We will appreciate if you support us. This is the link to see the teaser: http://smilesat10000feet.com/ Dr. Ralph Kuon The orphanage needs have grown and its budget has decreased to a point where the allotment per child/year is about 1800 dollars. This is not enough to even offer them an appropriate nutritional diet. Furthermore, it is much less to keep the old and decrepit bungalows in decent condition.
If you help us with your donations, we will repair as much as we can. In addition, we are also creating a mid-long term plan of support creating a network to help them. If you would like to help us with your donation, please send your contribution to PAMS EF ( endowment fund ). The addressed at 6488 Tamerlane Lane, West Bloomfield, MI 48322-2379. Please write Huancavelica, in the memo area of your check. Thank You, Dr. Ralph Kuon |
