In 2013, Huancavelica Medical Mission partnered with "en Bici al Cole" (led by Luciana Puente) and Northern Texas Chapter (led by Pablo V.Uceda) to donated bicycles to the local Orphanage.
To view this great program click on the video button below. With your support we can help these children with a source of transportation to go to school. This is because there are no buses, taxis, and combis in this area. Through the collaboration with en Bici al Cole, the orphans were taught the following: to ride the bicycles, the rules of transit and good sense, to avoid dangers and be prudent. Today, we receive another donation. This time it was from AMERICARES, who had also supported us for the past 8 years. We were able to acquire the best anesthetic (Sevorane) in sufficient amount for our surgeries in August. In addition to obtaining Sevorane, we were able to obtain other surgical supplies that are needed for our work and the work of the local surgeons after we depart.
Thank you Americares and Mrs. Cia Marion, who learned about us by coming in person to participate in our first Huancavelica Medical Mission many years ago. This upcoming Monday at noon, a truck from Lima will deliver the first donation (Direct Relief International from Santa Barbara, California) for our 2014 Huancavelica Mission, to the small LIRCAY Hospital. All the needed and extenuating work to go through customs were completed by our sister institution PAMS FOR PERU, in Lima. Transportation to Lircay was donated by the Cia. Minas Buenaventura.
The total value of this generous gift amounts to $51,000. Part of the donation will be used to equip the new patient wing that is currently being built as we speak. We have already increased the absorption capacity from 16 to 26 beds. Even though this may be small step, it will provide seven hospital beds (with IV poles, mattresses, sterilizers, centrifuges, medicines and supplies) for that area in this upcoming August. We will keep you posted on the progress. If you wish to donate, checks must be done to PAMSEF-Huiancavelica Mission. Thanks to you all for your support. |
