Subject: PAMPAS, Huancavelica.
Dear fellow citizens: today we are ending a week of intense work medico-dental and surgical charitable benefit of the population of the city of Pampas, the 2nd in importance of Huancavelica. Located at 3200 m above the level of the sea, in an area more warm and accessible to agriculture and trade, especially with Huancayo and in that way with Lima; It is two to three hours of the departmental hospital of Huancavelica, which makes need local services for those who do not can be transported, in short the most poor. The hospital is an enlarged health post of very good size and recent modern construction, the best of its kind I've seen in Peru. Obviously not meet even all the requirements needed by the population. The staff is very efficient and humane. They cover an area with approximately 120 thousand inhabitants of the region or province of Tayacaja. I am very happy to have come to work for the first time to this area, with a professional team of pequenho, exploratory to enable your own potential future campaigns conducting medical major. We thank the donations of Direct Relief International, and that institution especially Sr Daniel Snith who supports infatigablemtente Peru and us - California PAMS Chapter - for two decades: 50 pounds of antibiotics of first quality and great need in these areas of cold. Also the logistic support of Cia de Minas Buenaventura who for 8 consecutive years gives us their institutional capacity in aid programmes to the Dept. of Huancavelica, where carried out sincere and efficient programmes of social care to the needs of lso Huancavelicanos without asking anything in return or impose conditions of any kind. And the crazy direction of health, (DIRESA), and all PAMPAS Hospital staff for their friendly and total cooperation. The statistics are in preparation and will be published when they are ready, but have done, each of the six team members, interventions ever made in this town, teaching techniques and procedures learned through long and successful professional experiences, enriching thus the opportunity that the inhabitants of the area to benefit from this. Cordial and sincere, with best wishes from you for all and especially for the brothers of the Senhor de los Milagros for whom this is the most important week of 2013. Today we just delivered 38 bicycles to orphans that are older than six at Aldea de los Ninos. In addition, we also delivered Diplomas for students excellence, clothes, and new shoes. However, the list does not end there. The six modern cooking stoves that were donated months ago by our sponsor Cia de Minas Buenaventura were installed and large sets of cooking, serving and cleaning tools and utensils were donated. The list of donations encompass: health and dental kits, and bike helmets. With regards to our donation of bicycles our team has also showed the orphans how to ride the bicycles with safety and to teach them to have respect for traffic. We also made repairs to all of the damaged play sets at their garden (swings, tip-tops, etc). We thanks VII Medical Mission TEAM, Mrs Luciana Puente and her generosity and suggestion of donating the bicycles, and the Texas PAMS Chapter, that was lead by Dr. Pablo V. Uceda. On other matters, structural repairs for the damaged and decaying buildings have started again with the partnership and is placed under surveillance by our generous partners and sponsors aforementioned. However, these minor changes may take a few weeks, but a decent living situation is being restored for the 48 wonderful children living there. With your help we can too help fully restore these buildings. Dear 2013 Huancavelica Medical Mission Volunteers,
We have attached a document containing a summary of the flights for volunteers of Huancavelica Mission in the google group. Explanation: list prepared with 1) arrival dates, starting from the earlier on. 2) Those names enclosed within a rectangular frame are flying together, arriving together. 3) Brooke Hollman is flying a week earlier with her Dad to tour Peru. 4) Thus basically for first week volunteers, only Ben Carrillo and Andrea fa rrive the night of departure and need to be picked up from the Airport, the latest in arrival is Andrea FA. Accordingly we believe the bus could depart towards destination around 11pm, which makes for a shorter wait and earlier arrival to Huancayo> Huancavelica. 5) Many of the second week volunteers arrive one or two days ahead,.Those could board the bus, at the Cia de Minas Buenaventura central office: calle Carlos Villaran 790, Urbanizacion Santa Catalina, Lima, near the cross roads of Paseo de la Republica and Avenida Javier Prado. All of first week volunteers should-must board at this same place, since only two newcomers will be picked from the airport. Please check if your data hereby is correct. If you find a mistake please let us know as soon as possible. If you have any question please do not hesitate to ask. Thank You HMM Admin Peruvian American Dental Association (PDAD) was created with the stimulus and support of California Chapter of PAMS. We are proud of them! See the beautiful things that they do. Their approach is very similar to our mission. |
